Our Palma Fan is handwoven by artisans in Southern Mexico. Palm leaves are harvested from the trees before being laid out to dry in the sun for 4 days. The leaves are then trimmed with a sharp knife to stop fraying and prepare it for weaving. This fan commonly used in the street food markets of Oaxaca, Mexico to encourage flames when cooking traditional barbecue food such as tlayudas. Each one is beautifully finished with a plaited handle. If not used for cooking, it makes unique ornament.
